BDF athletics club runner, Godiraone Nthompe has ended the year on a high note by winning the Botswana Life Classic Run that held yesterday at Fairgrounds Park. He completed the men’s 21.1km race in a time of 1:08:10:2.

Sesebo Matlapeng of Diacore Runners Club followed him closely. The two were separated by mini seconds with Matlapeng registering 1:08:10:5. Tholego Keitshekile came third with a time of 1:10:03. Speaking to Sport Monitor afterwards, Nthompe said he was impressed with the time that he had clocked.

“We are going towards the end of the season and fatigue is taking over, so to finish on such a time is a good thing for me. I had a bad season due to injuries,” he said. Nthompe said injuries are a result of his body getting accustomed to long distance running. He said the training programme is difficult and in some instances he ends up getting injured.
