FRANCISTOWN: Top football administrator, Ashford Mamelodi has tipped clubs on what they need to become professional. Speaking at the awards ceremony of Mascom Premier League champions, ECCO City Greens at Marang Hotel on Saturday night, Mamelodi said an essential requirement in professional club football is an administrative office manned by a fulltime staff.

"A technical team, mostly full time and which will include specialist coaches such as goalkeeper coach and physical trainer in addition to the head coach and its assistant is necessary," said the FIFA development officer and COSAFA secretary general. Other crucial requirements he mentioned are a club house with a training field and a youth development side that would lead to an academy. Mamelodi recommended a structured fan club to cater for the needs and interests of supporters.

He said if ECCO has what he has recommended, they would represent a different brand of football that would create excitement and win more silverware. He hailed the club for becoming the first from the north to win the national soccer title.
