Low support irk Under-20 coach

The Under-20 national football team coach, Boyo 'Oris' Radipotsane is not happy with the support his side gets from the media, fans and parents.

At a press conference yesterday, he wondered why parents whose boys turn-out for the team do not come to the stadium to support their sons during matches. He explained that the more parents attend games, the more the players will be motivated.

He lamented that even the media is shunning the team and this is not good for the development of the game. He said he was shocked when Batswana living in Namibia turned-out in large numbers to support the team when it played the hosts in the first leg of the qualifiers for the African Youth Championship. He wondered why Batswana fail to attend junior national team games when played at home. He promised that the team will give a good account of itself at the National Stadium on Sunday when it plays Namibia in the second leg of the qualifiers. In the first leg, the teams drew 1-1 and Radipotsane said they will beat the Namibians and qualify for the next round. He said he does not have injuries, though two players have flu. He believes that his talented side could have easily won the first leg with a wide margin if they utilised their chances. "We engaged in a number of friendly matches against local sides and our performance was promising," said a confident Radipotsane during a press conference held at Lekidi Centre yesterday. Last weekend, the team beat Notwane 2-1 in a friendly match. "The preparations went well and we have rectified all the mistakes we had in the first game against Namibia and we are ready for them. I am sure by Sunday, we will produce good results," he promised.
