Komatsu sponsors schools tennis

Plant hire giant, Komatsu, in conjunction with private primary schools is holding a two-day tennis tournament in Francistown targeting the youth. The tournament at John Mackenzie School started yesterday with more than 30 private schools taking part.

Southern schools' all sports codes chairman, Admore Paganga, said the tournament is mainly focusing on the Under-13s. He pointed out that Komatsu has sponsored them with P10,000. "Komatsu has sponsored the tournament since 1991 and we are happy that they still see the need of financing this tournament," he said.

The tournament has been won 14 times by the southern region and nine times by the north. Paganga said tough competition is expected from the north, as the region is desperate to match the south in terms of titles won. "The people here play wonderful tennis. It is like you are watching matured players in an international tournament," he said.
