Koko surprise omission from Zebras squad

Despite his brilliant performance for Township Rollers, winger-cum-striker, Sekhana Koko finds himself out in the cold for the Chad game.

According to the list provided yesterday, coach Stanley Tshosane has called up 25 players for a preparatory camp and Koko was the surprise omission although he appears to be the ideal cover for Phenyo Mongala, who has not been playing regularly for his South African side, Orlando Pirates. Koko has been part of the team in the qualifiers although he has not regularly featured in matches. Tshosane has however called seven other South African-based players in Mogogi Gabonamong, Diphetogo Selolwane (Supersport United), Boitumelo Mafoko (Cape Town Santos), Dirang Moloi, Jerome Ramatlhakwana (Vasco Da Gama), Modiri Marumo (Bay United) and Mongala (Orlando Pirates).

After being overlooked, Rollers' left-back and captain, Edwin Olerile, has been given an opportunity to prove his worth. Uniao Flamengo Santos' duo, Godfrey Ngele and Boitshoko Zikhale, have also been called up while BDF XI's striker Mokgathi Mokgathi has been left out, probably due to his loss of form this season.
