Kgathi briefs media on constituency league

The Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Shaw Kgathi, will address a media conference this morning at the Btv Auditorium on the controversial constituency league.

A statement from the ministry said Kgathi will brief the media on the constituency league "and respond to widespread allegations that Botswana is threatened with a suspension by FIFA".  The Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, David Fani, told delegates gathered for the association's general assembly last month that FIFA had threatened to ban the country if a resolution on how the league will be run is not reached. The constituency league is a brainchild of President Ian Khama.

The BFA has said that the league is disrupting the smooth running of mainstream competitions as players leave in droves to join it.
