Karate team surpasses medals' target

The senior karate team returns today from the Commonwealth Karate Championship in Sydney, Australia with a feeling of bravado after amassing 12 medals, including four gold.

When the team departed last week, it had set itself a target of eight medals, but return with 12.

The other medals were three silver and five bronze. Three gold medals came from the women's team kata made up of Baone Radiposo, Thato Malunga and Tsholofelo Maduma. Vicky Majama who gold in the male kumite category. Silver medals came from Thato Malunga (female), Ofentse Bakwadi (male) and Moses Jones (male) in the individual kumite category. The male team kata team which comprised Ofentse Bakwadi, Tebogo Molapong and Mogakolodi Motlhabi won bronze while Baone Radiposo (female) and  Mpho Bosenakitso (male) also got bronze in their respective kumite categories.
