Kampebera is 100m sprint champion

First runner up was Mooketsi Magaga who trailed closely behind by 0.53 seconds, whilst Loato Kelediyakgotla came third with 10.75 seconds. The competition was held at the Molepolole Sports Complex.The 100 metre sprint competition started interestingly with eight preliminary heats that were used to select 24 athletes for the semi-finals. The eight heat competitions were won by among others, Kelediyakgotla, Kampebera, Magaga, and Tshepo Khiwa. The semi-finals featured three heats where the 24 sprinters battled it out for the final eight spots. As was expected, the final lived up to its billing as it consisted eight of what is believed to be Botswana’s best sprinters.When the gun went off it was Kampebera and Magaga who were at each other’s throats battling for a win.Both athletes performed impressively in the preliminary rounds as they displaced their opponents with ease.
For Magaga who is in his mid 30s, this was short-lived as the younger Kampebera proved more agile when he crossed the finish line first leaving the crowd showering him with praises of “Tshipi E Ntsho!”. Joy Mphatlho who ran 12.54 seconds followed by Tsaone Sebele and Gosego Mpeo with 12.59 seconds and 12.81 seconds respectively, won the women’s 100 metres sprint competition.
