Kabelano Trust chairperson, Terrence Dambe has heaped praise on everyone who made last weekend's Barclays Kabelano Charity Cup a success. The one-day tournament returned this year after more than four years of absence.

Dambe was speaking at the hand-over of prizes for the participating teams in Gaborone yesterday. Mochudi Centre Chiefs were crowned the champions of the tournament after defeating Extension Gunners 2-0 in the final. They had earlier in the day beat Nico United 1-0 in the first semi final. Dambe said he was a bit nervous before the tournament mainly because they have not held the tournament in years. He pointed out that he is happy that the event was success and promised to do even better next year.

Chiefs were handed their P200, 000 cheque for their efforts as champions. They had won the previous tournament, which was last held in 2008. The cheque was handed over to the club chairperson, Ernest Molome who was accompanied by spokesperson, Clifford Mogomotsi as well as the executive manager, Levert Ntwaagae. Chiefs had shown their intentions to retain the cup, tying up deals with some of the big name players, among them Patrick lenyeletse, Ontse Ntesa, Bonolo Frazer and Onalethata Tshekiso early on in the trabsfer window. Frazer was the hero, scoring three goals in total to hand his new team the trophy. He scored the only goal in the semi final to knock out Nico United before scoring a brace in the final. Gunners as the runners up received a P100, 000 cheque, while both Township Rollers and Nico United went home with P50, 000 each.
