It is almost three years to that cold Thursday evening, on May 22, 2014, when thousands crammed into the National Stadium to witness the official opening of the second Africa Youth Games. The historic moment was lauded, and expected to leave a lasting legacy, but Mmegi Sport corrrespondent, KABELO BORANABI asks, what progress has been made since then?

The games gave most Batswana a glimpse into the world of minority, elite sports such as rowing, fencing and canoeing.

But 32 months later, the usual suspects, football and athletics still dominate the local scene. Others which made their debut during the games have simply faded away or failed to hit expected heights.
