KOPONG: Robert Pollock emerged as the overall winner of the seventh round of the Botswana Motor Sport (BMS) National Off Road Championship, dubbed Kopong 200, on Saturday. Wilkinson finished second, while Taye Perry was third. Zayd Noble won the quad bikes section.

Racing in his home village, Pollock won the tightly contested OR1 category, as Perry came in second while Mohamed Jones finished third. In a terrain stretching 200km, riders were taken of their usual sandy terrain as they had to deal with rocky, hard-pack. Pollock said that home ground advantage worked on his favour on the afternoon as he targets a podium finish at the end of the season.

"I am very happy. This one goes out to the people of Kopong. It was nice and tight, but it favored smaller bikes whilst the bigger bikes struggled. But at the end of the day we made use of what we could. I missed a lot of races of but intention is to win the championship. I will see how it goes in the last rounds," he said.
