GU Maintain Good Form

Gaborone United (GU) came from behind to nail Police XI 2-1 in a thrilling beMOBILE Premier League match played under flood-flights on Friday.

GU who are fresh from walloping Combination Stars 13-0 in the Coca-Cola Cup looked like they were heading for a loss when Police XI drew blood first. Police XI who are fighting relegation looked the better side early on. Surprisingly, Zebras defender Ndiyapo Letsholathebe started on the bench for Police XI but he came on in the second half, replacing Kenny Gaontebale. The first chance of the game came in the 23rd minute when David Makakaba sneaked past the GU defence and beat goalkeeper, Raphael Nthwane but his effort was cleared before it could cross the line by Tumisang Sekanonyana. GU were forced to make an early substitution when Tshepo Molefe was injured. He was replaced by Stephen Maposa in the 26th minute. Police went ahead in the 39th minute when Richard Mwaanza capitalised on a defensive blunder by Sekanonyana. The former BMC defender tried to play a short pass to his team-mate but Police XI midfielder, Jackie Mothatego intercepted the ball and released Mwaanza who gave Nthwane no chance.

The goal separated the two sides at half-time.
