Gaborone City marathon launched

Botswana will have its second 42.2km marathon after the launch of the Gaborone City Marathon at the Phakalane Golf Estate yesterday.

The annual Bosele Marathon in Selebi-Phikwe has been the country's flagship long distance race.

The inaugural Gaborone City Marathon will be held on April 18 and is expected to attract international runners from long distance giants like Ethiopia and Kenya. The chairperson of the event's organising committee, Thola Magang told a media briefing that the race brings opportunities to athletes and Botswana tourism.
