Flying start for volleyball sides at World Cup qualifiers

Both the men and women's sides won 3-0 against Swaziland to keep alive their hopes of progressing to the final phase of the qualifiers.In a telephone interview from Maputo, the head of delegation, George Keotsene said as expected Swaziland did not give them tough competition. He said the teams did not just win, but were also outstanding in their display.
Keotsene added that the local sides were good in all departments. He however said because they were playing weaker sides it was not clear if the teams were at their best. He was also concerned that the level of competition was low on the women's side. At the time of going to press the local sides were to play Lesotho. While the men's side was expected to have a tough time their female counterparts were expected to cruise to victory. Although on many occasions the men have emerged victorious against Lesotho they have never had it easy. The Lesotho side is made up of strong players particularly from their top side, The Red Skins.The top three teams from each section will meet other zonal winners in October for a place at next's year World Cup in Poland and Italy for men and women respectively.
