Despite Gilport Lions’ victory over the weekend, the Debswana First Division South League will go down to the wire as three sides still have a chance to finish top of the league table.

While the First Division North League was decided a fortnight ago, the other side of the Premier League feeder league will be decided on the last day. Gilport Lions registered an all-important 1-0 win away to Black Rangers on Saturday to open a three-point lead.

The log leaders will now have to win their last game to be assured of an immediate return to the BTC Premiership next season. Gilport Lions have so far collected 36 points with one game remaining. Broadhurst United who are currently occupying the second spot on the log defeated Matebejana 2-1 on Saturday as they push to steal their first ever promotion to the Premier League right under Gilport Lions’ nose.
