FBC win Auto-world Trophy

FRANCISTOWN: After four years of heart-break, Francistown Bowling Club (FBC) have won the Autoworld Francistown Trophy at the weekend. The two-day tournament was contested by all the six bowling clubs in the country. Before the triumph of FBC, Gaborone Club has been the dominant force in the competition.

This year, FBC fielded three teams all of which won their matches. FBC team B finished tops followed by team A. Orapa was third while FBC team C was fourth followed by Lobatse. During the tournament, other clubs complained about the heavy green.

Speaking to Mmegi Sport after the victory, FBC captain, Rita Uys, said they were grateful to win the tournament given that they have failed narrowly in the past years. She said they won because of hard work and determination. "It was a fierce competition but we are very happy to become champions," said the excited captain. She added that it was motivating to succeed against giants like Gaborone and Jwaneng. She conceded that Gaborone and Jwaneng usually gives them hard time.
