ECCO beef up squad

FRANCISTOWN: Mascom Premier League champions ECCO City Greens have bolstered their squad with the signing of national Under-23 goalkeeper Itumeleng Selapa and former international defender Talinda Nyathi. Both players are expected to make their debut for Mamoja-diskie in the Coca-Cola Cup quarterfinal clash with Township Rollers at the Lobatse Stadium on August 11.

ECCO manager Mothusi Madikwe said they finally got Selapa's blue book from his former club FC Palapye after numerous attempts. Since making his debut in the Under-23 side in April, the custodian has been on the wanted list of several Premier League giants like Rollers, BDF XI and TAFIC. Though he always played as second choice to Mochudi Centre Chiefs' Noah Maposa at the national Under-23 team, he has proved his potential.

Madikwe said they needed an experienced custodian to fill the shoes of Michael Onkutule whenever there was need. "Selapa has international experience from the Under-23 and we felt he might do better for us," he added. Selapa is currently with Under-23 side taking part in the four-nations tournament in Beijing, China.
