Choppies have splashed half a million pula towards Mayor's Marathon

The Choppies Group of Companies have injected a sum of P500,000 in sponsorship for the first annual Gaborone City Mayor’s Marathon to be held on September 16, this year.

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday in Gaborone, Mayor Kagiso Thutwe said the city council has partnered with Choppies who have come in as a Gold Sponsor with the value of P500,000. He said the money would cover the prize money and key operational processes. 

Thutwe also said despite Gaborone being one of the fastest growing cities in Africa and the world, the recent financial crisis has slowed development, which has immensely contributed to the social and economic problems that the citizens of the city have succumbed to. He said the Gaborone City Council had to come up with morale boosting activities for the residents.
