Chicken pox outbreak stalls ping pong tourne

An outbreak of chicken pox in Cape Town, South Africa forced the Inter-regional Table Tennis Championships organisers to put off the prestigious tournament on Friday.

Botswana had sent ten ping pong stars for the competition, but they had to return following the outbreak of the epidemic. The local stars left the Mother City on Friday morning.

"There was a chicken pox outbreak in Cape Town and the SA Open could not continue. The organisers had to cancel, which meant that we had to leave earlier than planned," said Boitshwarelo Butale, one of the players who had travelled.
