FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) held a seminar on the rugby play rules at the Botswana Accountancy College here over the weekend.

The main aim of the seminar was to teach players, referees and coaches on the rules and regulations of the game. This came after the rugby governing body realised that it is essential for players to know the rules and regulations of the game. Zilwele Khumalo, who is the BRU rugby developmental officer and also a referee, conducted the seminar. Khumalo said it was necessary for the referees to make the right calls and signals and that players should adhere to the officials’ calls.

He also touched on the issue of tackling in rugby. He explained the legal and illegal tackle that players make and how a tackle is done without risking penalties.
