BPL clutching at thin straws on awards

The Botswana Premier League (BPL) made a spirited but clumsy effort to bat away recent consternations over the questionable selections at their awards which served only to add further confusion, rather than offer clarity.

The BPL was left seething after reports of debatable selections for the Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards.

Simisani Mathumo was seen as an overwhelming favourite on the back of an outstanding season, but it was his teammate, Lemponye Tshireletso who instead, walked away with the gong.
