Botswana falls short of All Africa Games target

MAPUTO: The 10th edition of the All Africa Games (AAG) ended on Sunday night after a spectacular closing ceremony and Botswana returned home with a 16-medal haul, four short of their target.

The team won two gold, five silver and nine bronze medals. Only four sporting codes out of the 12 codes representing the country won medals. Boxing, athletics, karate and chess were the only codes that managed to bring home medals from the quadrennial event.

The Botswana national anthem was sung twice at the games, first for boxer Oteng Oteng as he became the first athlete to grab gold in the flyweight (52kg) division.
