Botho University emerged victorious in the inaugural Botswana Tertiary Students Sports Association (BOTESSA) rugby tournament after beating University of Botswana (UB) 35-5 in the final at Wharic Park on Saturday.

Botho scored their first try after a UB mistake in the middle. Botho took full advantage as UB committed errors, which saw the leaders score three tries towards the end of the first half. Teams came in the last round of the match playing good, with UB mistimed tackles and lost scramble balls. Botho had the upper hand while UB continued to press the self destruct button in a game played over 20minutes.

Both teams fielded experienced players, some of whom play in the national rugby league.
