BOKA to probe poor turn out

Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) has resolved to probe the poor participation at the national senior open championships held at the University of Botswana (UB) Sports Hall.

The problem delayed the selection for the national team. BOKA intended to use the event to select more karatekas to beef up the national squad due to participate in the Commonwealth championships, in Scotland next month. It was a disappointment when only a few karatekas pitched-up.

"We are very disappointed by this poor turn-up but we have to make sure that we get to the root of it to understand why athletes did not attend as we hoped," said BOKA public relations officer, Ezekiel Seru. He said there are many clubs and he does not understand why they failed to send karatekas or information that they will not appear.
