Bodybuilding champions, Edward Maloiso and Gontse Sechele have started preparations for the World Championships qualifiers to be held at the UNISA auditorium in Pretoria South Africa on May 9.
Maloiso will be participating in the junior qualifiers while Sechele will be battling it out in the champion qualifiers.
Eight-time junior champion, Maloiso told Mmegi Sport that they have already started intense training for the qualifiers which will be held in 12 weeks time.
He said they are currently working on their diet and body fitness. The body builders will be battling it out with their counterparts from other African countries. The 23-year-old said they are currently keen on what they consume so that they maintain or reduce the fat in their bodies. He stated that they are doing cardio workouts six days in a week so that they can maintain their body shapes and weight.
The body builder trains in South Africa under the guidance of Heine Kotze. Locally he is under the mentorship of Lust Sithole.
Judges at body building competitions mainly look at size, symmetry, balance, condition and posture of the contestants.
Sechele who is the first Motswana to participate in the world champions is currently ranked number three in the world. Sechele and Maloiso have given free body building lessons to the community by hosting workshops in Gaborone. The passionate duo have previously hosted body building events such as Mr Botswana and Gaborone Classic.
