BFA president, Tebogo Sebego has said they will assemble a team to look into Babitseng’s case. The BFA executive committee meets today. Babitseng was suspended in November for alleged embezzlement of funds following the Zebras’ trip to Guinea Bissau where he was head of delegation.
The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) queried a financial report the BFA submitted after the trip to West Africa, resulting in Babitseng’s suspension. Sebego explained that the BFA had asked BNSC to assist in dealing with the case but this could not happen because the council was a complainant in the matter.
Whilst celebrating milestones in inclusivity, with notably P5 billion awarded to vulnerable groups, the report sounds a 'siren' on a dangerous and growing trend: the ballooning use of micro-procurement.
