SELEBI-PHIKWE: Bamangwato Toyota dealer principal, Conrad Visser has said it is important for stakeholders and companies to help in the development of sports by providing assistance when called upon.

Speaking at the handover of a kit to the Under-21 women’s hockey team recently, Visser said most of the times teams do not perform to their level best because they are not motivated. He urged different companies to come forward and help in the development of sports in Botswana. “We hope this is the beginning of our relationship with the hockey team. We are willing to assist the team when they need help,” he said. The team coach, Nickey Wallace said Bamangwato’s sponsorship will help boost the girls’ morale. She said the sponsorship came at the right time as they prepare to compete in the African Championships starting on Friday. “It is fantastic that Bamangwato came forward and assisted the team with tracksuits. The girls will be encouraged because lack of sponsorship affects their performance as they feel neglected,” she said.

The Botswana Hockey Association chairperson, Unaswi Matebu said they are still going to negotiate with Bamangwato to provide more assistance to the team. “It’s a newly established relationship.
