Athletics stars geared up for inaugural Gaborone Meet

Sparks are expected to fly tomorrow afternoon at the inaugural Gaborone International Meet (GIM) to be held at the National Stadium, which has attracted international stars from around the region.

The Meet, organised by Sports View Runners Club, will see runners from host country, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mauritius, Zambia and Zimbabwe battle it out.

The chairperson of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Glody Dube told a press briefing on Wednesday that in the beginning the idea of GIM seemed impossible due to lack of sponsorship. He said despite that, the LOC approached various companies and individuals who responded positively.
