Amateur golfers brace for Northern Open

FRANCISTOWN: Over 100 local and international amateur players are expected to throng the nine-hole Francistown Club golf course next weekend for the Northern Open tournament.

The First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) has sponsored the Botswana Golf Union (BGU) tournament with P30,000. BGU executive secretary Comfort Ramatebele told Mmegi Sport yesterday that they expect a bumper entry for the event.

At press time, about 15 players from Gaborone Golf Club had confirmed their participation. Ramatebele lamented that, unfortunately, due to the smallness of the course, only men would take part in the tournament.
