President of the Botswana Sectors for Educators Trade Union (BOSETU) Winston Radikolo has used the allure created by Letsile Tebogo’s podium finish at the world championships, to call upon the government to reopen school sports activities, or risk never seeing similar high level performance from Botswana athletes again.

Speaking at the BSETU annual conference in Palapye this morning Radikolo said Letsile Tebogo is a product of schools sports and testament that school sports can produce amazing results.

However, Radikolo cautioned that while BOSETU is pushing for the restart of the sporting activities in schools, such should not come at the expense of the teachers, as teachers involved deserve to be remunerated for their efforts. He urged the authorities to come to the table and discuss the way forward in the best interest of the country and national pride.
