When ADvTECH Group acquired Gaborone International School (GIS) in 2015, it marked the beginning of a new chapter for the institution.

Over the past nine years, the leading private education provider has poured millions into upgrading infrastructure and integrating advanced technology into classrooms, significantly enhancing the quality of education.

GIS investments spanning to millions in investments represents a testament to ADvTECH’s commitment to modernising education in Botswana. Some project investments include a state-of-the-art Science and Technology Centre, expanded primary and pre-school buildings, and enhanced sports facilities.

The new science and technology wing is equipped with robotics labs, 3D printers, laser cutters, and drone technology—resources designed to elevate the school’s focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

Speaking about the transformation, GIS Executive Head Mrs. Hannelie Raubenheimer emphasised the impact of ADvTECH’s investment on both students and teachers.

“The improvements have been tremendous. Our students now have access to cutting-edge technology that enhances their learning experience and prepares them for a future in a digital world,” she said.

“We are seeing a noticeable improvement in problem-solving skills, engagement, and overall academic performance.”

One of the key advancements has been the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in the classroom through ADvTECH’s proprietary AdvLearn programme. The AI-powered platform analyses students’ strengths and weaknesses, providing personalised learning experiences that cater to individual needs. Raubenheimer highlighted how this innovation is shaping a new era of education at GIS.

“The integration of AI allows us to tailor lesson plans to each student, ensuring that they grasp concepts at their own pace,” she explained.

“It’s an incredible tool that not only helps with knowledge retention but also encourages independent learning.”

ADvTECH, which operates some of the most prestigious private schools and tertiary institutions across Africa, has long been at the forefront of educational investment. Its focus on digital transformation in education is evident in GIS, where traditional teaching methods are being enhanced with interactive and data-driven approaches.

The result has been a noticeable shift in the learning environment. Students are more engaged, teachers have access to better resources, and GIS is positioning itself as a leader in modern education in Botswana. With ADvTECH’s continued support, the school is expected to keep evolving, offering students a world-class education that meets international standards.

For GIS, the journey since 2015 has been one of growth, innovation, and excellence. As the institution continues to build on its strong foundation, it stands as a testament to the power of strategic investment in education.
