BMD is just another COPE

The similarity with which the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) and South Africa's Congress of the People (COPE) were formed makes interesting read ing and is a revelation. The revelation spells doom and trying times for BMD.

Not even the BCP (Botswana's equivalent of the Democratic Alliance in SA) should be worried by the emergence of the BMD, contrary to some opinion piece from one of the local scribes that BCP should be worried. BMD is pushing them from the limelight. Judging by the foulmouthed, profane, arrogant and egotistical display, by all accounts lacking in our well known spirit of "botho" and directed by the BMD 'Advisor' Sonny Serite, sooner rather than later BMD will dissipate into oblivion following in the footsteps of the once mighty BNF. The BCP is forewarned to maintain their sanity by staying away from radical elements under guise of opposition unity. You have been warned before!!

In the early days of COPE's formation Mosiuoa Lekota was quoted as having said thus: "The groundswell of the Congress of the People (Cope) members who managed to gather in a short time is an indication of the political mood in South Africa."It tells you where the mood of the people currently is."  Then the party claimed to have amassed 428,000 members since breaking away from the ANC.
