Building more resilient supply chains post COVID-19

Although we first heard about the outbreak of COVID-19 in China, some time in December 2019, from the supply chain perspective, Botswana appeared to be unprepared when the virus finally descended on our beloved country.
From December last year, COVID-19 began to spread from China across the world at lightning speed and fortunately for Botswana it took quite some time before we recorded our first case.
The Ministry of Agriculture, local producers, retailers, and industry associations must work together to overcome the obstacles hindering vegetable production and distribution.This collaborative approach is essential to improve the availability, quality, and affordability of vegetables in the market.Firstly, the Ministry of Agriculture should provide support and guidance to local farmers to enhance their productivity and efficiency.
