BFTUs Condolences

Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) and its entire membership are deeply hurt by the death of founder and President of Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) and Secretary General of Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) Comrade Gomolemo Motswaledi. We learnt with disbelief and shock that Comrade Motswaledi lost his life yesterday by car accident, on his way from South Africa.

Comrade Motswaledi has been a pioneer of change in our national politics. He has courageously dared to venture where many dared not, for long. He Championed and led the first ever breakaway from the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), in its 50 year history.

He went on to become the President of BMD and later, Secretary General of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), an alliance with a Leftist Botswana National Front (BNF) and a Pan-Africanist Botswana People’s Party (BPP).
