BCP calls for urgent all party conference

The Botswana Congress Party views the current standoff over registration for the 2024 general elections (which involves the IEC), and the unprecedented delay of registration as very serious threats to our democracy and national security.

It is on this basis that the president of BCP, Dumelang Saleshando, sent the President of the Republic of Botswana a letter on November 20, 2023, proffering his advice on a way forward. While the registration crisis escalates and threatens our democracy; the Office of the President has not yet provided a response nor an acknowledgement of the letter from the BCP President. The BCP had never intended for the letter to be secretive and we wish to share the letter publicly as the issue addressed is of utmost national interest. The BCP is basically calling for President Masisi to convene an all-party conference to avoid the electoral mess ahead.
