Now complicating the issue is Josta Isaac, a lawyer, who is also the vice secretary for the local executive committee at the Tlokweng Branch and a member of the church lawyers panel.

The Palapye-based Isaac wants to join the proceedings before court to highlight that the 2009 Constitution was unlawful, had no force and that it should be declared null and void.

Appearing before Justice Michael Mothobi of Gaborone High Court on Friday, Isaac sought leave to be accorded a chance to submit why he wanted to be joined as the friend of court. He said both the litigants and the court may not be aware that the current constitution does not govern the affairs of the local church.
