The deputy director of Information for ZANU-PF, Pyschology Maziwisa has encouraged 'suspended' University of Botswana (UB) student leaders to find amicable means to resolve issues between them and UB management, as opposed to dragging government into the furor.

Addressing the Student Representative Council (SRC) yesterday subsequent to the year long suspension of 10 representatives of the 13 membered Council, Maziwisa urged them to seek proper channels to engage management, as UB is an institution with representatives able to address their problem. “The student leadership and management has to find an amicable way to solve the issue because 12 months is an inordinate period of time to be away from classes,” he said.

According to the outspoken lawyer cum politician, the charges that the student leaders face do not synchronise with the alleged offence, which he summed up as an arbitrary sentence.  He added that it was unfair in his eyes to suspend learners for a year simply because they attended a meeting sanctioned by the UB management.
