Woman, 31, busted for possession of illegal firearm

A 31-year-old woman from Phase 1 in Selebi-Phikwe is in police custody for illegal possession of an object resembling a pistol along with ammunition.

The arrest transpired after the police received a tip regarding the suspect and her boyfriend engaging in the trade of illicit substances. Upon arriving at their residence on a Saturday afternoon to search for these alleged drugs, the police discovered a concealed 9mm pistol and five rounds of ammunition.

The suspect was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the presence of the items during police questioning.
