MOCHUDI: Mochudi Magistrate's Court this morning granted bail to defilement and rape accused prophet, Goitsekgosi Mojadigo, of Divine Anointing Church after he spent a month in prison

Mojadigo is facing five counts before the Mochudi Magistrate's Court. One count is for rape while the remaining four counts are for defilement. In court this morning, presiding Magistrate Queen Moanga stated that she is in agreement with the defence lawyer Samuel Plaatjie that there is absolutely no reason to further remand the accused in custody. “The defence attorney feels that this is not necessary as the investigations for the case have been completed and it is indeed true that the investigations are complete,” Moanga remarked. With the defence further alluding to the fact that Mojadigo should be granted bail on the basis that he will not partake in church events particularly of Divine Church, the Magistrate stated that she finds the condition as a great solution. “The defence has stated that the accused will not participate in the church, which has not been operational since. So, I have accepted that the defence’s offer as this in my view is a wise condition for him not to take part in the church,” the Magistrate said.

Moanga further highlighted that Mojadigo does not strike her as one of the accused that should be denied bail pending trial which is set for November 4-7, 2024. “The accused has not committed these crimes before therefore he does not qualify as a repeat offender or habitual offender so that does not disqualify him to deny him bail,” she said. Based on these grounds she laid in court, Magistrate Moanga granted Mojadigo bail with conditions. Mojadigo’s bail conditions include paying a recognisance worth of P5, 000, providing two Batswana sureties who can pay P2, 000 each, being prohibited from partaking in Divine Anointing Church activities, reporting to the Mochudi Police Station between 7:30am and 4:30pm and appear in court on set dates. Mojadigo’s next appearance before magistrate Moanga will be on November 4 for the commencement of the trial.
