FRANCISTOWN: Despite experts having predicted a drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon, some farmers in Francistown and its surroundings have received a bumper crop yields especially watermelons.

This is all thanks to the incessant rains that fell at the beginning of year. It is now common to see people eating watermelons around the city or a car heavily loaded with the produce for sale.

Despite the scientists’ earlier predications, many farmers who defied the advice of meteorologists are now reaping the fruits of their labour.
