Vision 2016 awareness drive stepped up

With five years remaining to the national Vision 2016, an educational campaign aimed at encouraging Batswana to "live the vision" was launched in Gaborone yesterday.

Themed "Living The Vision, Yame Le Wena", the campaign has been necessitated by a recent household survey conducted by the Vision Council, which established that 93 percent of Batswana know about the vision, 18 percent are living the vision while seven percent do not know anything about the vision. Officially launching the campaign at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC), Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mokgweetsi Masisi said though the nation had made significant progress across several sectors to meet the Vision 2016 goals, there was need to address the challenges.

"Whilst we may rightfully rejoice and celebrate our deserved success we need to remain steadfast in our resolve to overcome the outstanding challenges," he said, noting that if not addressed they have the potential to undermine the achievements. Masisi said as government they believe the Vision is a call to which everyone should respond.
