Union criticises MoESD management style

The government should invest in teaching rather than managing the profession, the president of the Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU), Shandukane Hlabano told the press on Wednesday.

He said unless this is addressed, problems in the teaching profession will never be resolved. To address the plight of teachers and for the profession to improve bulk of the budget has to be channelled towards delivery education not creation more managerial posts while sacrificing the teaching service, Hlabano said.

He said the fact that teachers were not been paid for services rendered and agreed upon by the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) has led to bad faith and strained industrial relations.
