Unborn child dies after mother is kicked in the belly

LOBATSE: Pogiso Mangole, a 38-year-old man of Dinatshana village, stands accused of assaulting a pregnant woman, kicking her in her abdomen and killing her unborn child in the process.

However in a turn of events that has left villagers in Pitsane-Potlhokwe shocked, Mangole was granted bail by chief magistrate, Mareledi Dipate yesterday. He is charged with assault and one count of causing the death of the unborn child.

Prosecutors say on June 26 at Pitsane-Potlhokwe village in Goodhope-Mabule constituency, Mangole assaulted a woman who was in the sixth month of her pregnancy. Details surrounding the cause of the alleged incident are still unclear.
