UBSRC scoffs at management's 'legal comedy'

The University of Botswana Student Representative Council (UBSRC) has labelled as 'legal comedy', a decision by the UB management to summon former student leader Khumoekae Richard to a disciplinary appeal hearing tomorrow.

Richard was served with a letter on October 23 bearing the signature of director (legal affairs) David Fani, stating, "You are advised that, pending finalisation of your appeal, your academic transcript and certificate will be withheld by the university."

The said student graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from UB this month. In a memorandum distributed to the student community yesterday, the SRC said the Vice Chancellor, Thabo Fako had given students and the nation at large an assurance that the 'battle' between UB and the former student leaders was a thing of the past.
