The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, Neil Fitt, is likely to face a charge of contempt of court after the government failed to implement an order by the Commissioner of Labour to promote Oaitse Patle to the position of Principal Administration Officer.

Patle told the Commissioner of Labour that he was unfairly denied promotion despite having satisfied all the requirements. The Commissioner ruled in his favour and ordered that he be promoted retrospectively to C1salary scale from June 1, 2008, and promoted to D4 salary scale from June 1, 2010. The decision was made on September 26.

The Commissioner also ordered that: “The Respondent must implement this decision within 14 days of their receipt of this award and must inform the District Labour Office, Block 8, about action taken before October 14, 013.”
