In a rather interesting serving of poetic justice, three robbers got more than what they bargained for when they targeted to steal a car that turned out to have four police officers as its occupants.

The trio, who were driving an Audi A3 vehicle, pounced on the officers’ vehicle at around 2am near Tsholofelo Primary School.

They only discovered whilst already in action, in the attempted jacking of their Isuzu double cab van, that they were trying to rob members of law enforcement. Broadhurst Police Station commander, Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae said one of the suspects threatened the police officers with something that resembled a pistol. “When police officers were doing patrols, an Audi A3 car came from behind speeding and flashing its lights. They pulled over only to be attacked and threatened with something that resembled a pistol.

Two officers in uniform were sitting in the back seat. The suspects got the shock of their lives when they found them inside the car,” Lokae said. The other officers were out-of-uniform. Lokae stated that the trio aged 31, 33, and 34 respectively were arrested and they are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

He stated that the trio was driving an unregistered vehicle suspected to be used for other robberies.
