Tobacco costs six million lives annually

Gantsi: Smoking tobacco has negative effects which claim nearly six million people each year worldwide, the minister of health Dorcus Makgato has revealed.

Speaking at the Commemoration of World No Tobacco Day, Makgato said the number includes about 600,000 which constitutes non-smokers who have been exposed to second hand smoke.

She further revealed that tobacco products contain 4,000 chemicals of which 40 have been identified to be carcinogenic.
