FRANCISTOWN: “Our maturation as a nation and the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) exists within the environment of commemorating the 50 years,” Francistown High Court Justice Lot Moroka said on Friday.

A guest speaker at the DCEC/Ombudsman stakeholder breakfast seminar, Justice Moroka said the fight against corruption; economic crime and maladministration should take cognisant of the fact that Botswana is undergoing an evolution.

He said at independence, the Public Works Department (PWD) did everything for the country. Moroka noted that in the 1980s, the country’s development trajectory changed as government talked public private sector partnership (PPP), which unfortunately brought with it seeds of corruption.
