Thirty-four get Chinese govt scholarships

This year the Chinese government decided to increase the number of scholarships to 64 with 30 more expected to be confirmed soon by the the country's Ministry of Commerce. China is regarded as one of the most powerful economies in the world over.
Assistant minister of Education and Skills Development, Moiseraele Goya said education continues to play an important role in addressing issues of social inequalities and poverty. Speaking at the send off ceremony this week, he said government has realised that the country’s economic driver, diamonds, needs diversification hence putting more funding towards education to invest in human capital. Goya stated that while government has committed to increase education funding, it could not manage alone as the cost of funding continues to escalate. “Our government continues to make funding of education a priority as evidenced by a large share of the budget that education gets every financial year.”
