The sun shines for Medupe's family

Sickly and poor Keituemetse Medupe had until last Friday no place to call home. The forty-nine-year-old mother of nine had for the past four decades lived in a makeshift in her mother's compound without even dreaming she will own a decent residence like other people do in contemporary Botswana.

They slept huddled together in what they called a 'house' and when she thought the gods could not look at her with not even one eye, she was blessed with a home and a plot of her own for the very first time in the life.

Poverty made her older than she really is. Medupe is among thousands of Batswana whose souls are entrapped in the mighty bondage of poverty which often degenerates from one generation to the other.
